Contamination-proof floors and production processesi
Coffee roasters and companies involved in the production of soluble beverages must of course adhere to the principles of HACCP, and for the typical production process, avoid possible biological and chemical contamination factors, which are also specified in the Manual of Good Hygienic Practice for the Coffee Roasting Sector approved by the Ministry of Health, where indications are also given on the characteristics of the floors.
THE FLOORING SOLUTION
which we adopted for a major Italian Private Label Coffee Group is a multilayer, grey-coloured, polyurethane-cement flooring, solvent-free (no odour or emissions), with outstanding anti-slip and anti-skid characteristics. Applied at a thickness of 6 mm, it makes it possible to create continuous industrial flooring that is extremely resistant to chemical attack, impact, washing, discharges and spillage of liquids at temperatures of up to 80°C.
Multilayer resin floors must also have a degree of roughness that can be customised according to the intended use. To promote better adhesion, the roughness of the substrate must be within ±0.5 mm in the case of a self-levelling, thin or multi-layer coating.
The condition of the substrate surface is a fundamental and determining characteristic for the adhesion of the resinous coating, which must in any case be greater than 1.5 N/mm2. A defect in adhesion, whether local or generalised, risks causing abnormal behaviour, especially in the case of thin coatings. This is why the existing situation is carefully analysed before deciding which solution to adopt, and before treating the substrate appropriately (possible demolition or repair).
We also supplied and installed the liquid drainage system with driveway slotted gutters, so that it could be completely drained into the drainage system without stagnation.
